These scenes, a reflection on brief moments which affect present actions, are explored and recreated in paper by appropriating using parts of previous paintings which I have cut up and saved, as well as remnants from the Johnny Painstroke performances.
In Search of the Concrete Penis

Paper Construction
12" x 7" x 10"
Sometimes I miss the days when it was easier to get lost. One of my first days in Seoul, before I had a smart phone or any phone at all, I got extremely lost. The only directions I had for getting home was a bus number written on a piece of paper. I simply had to get on that bus going in the right direction. Unfortunately I didn't realize I was at the wrong subway station and that bus did not stop there. So I did the next best thing and got onto a random bus. Luckily I ended up in the general area but I have a horrible sense of direction and all the streets looked the same. All I had for a landmark was a patch of concrete pavement that was shaped like a large penis. After walking around for hours I eventually made it home.
